The Rectangular Dish with Platter Lid is designed for beauty from oven to table, and includes our most popular sized rectangular baking dish topped with our stoneware serving platter. Use the two dishes together or separately for the utmost in versatility.

Use the baking dish for everything from rich desserts to roasting vegetables, bubbling casseroles, storing leftovers and more. The platter lid offers an attractive serving piece for cheese, appetizers, salads or as a lid for the baking dish. Crafted from premium stoneware to ensure food is cooked to perfection, the dishes feature a colorful glaze that is virtually non-stick for easy cleanup.

Marinating

One of our favorite ways to use the Rectangular Dish with Platter Lid is for marinating meat and vegetables when grilling. The fully glazed stoneware is non-porous and doesn’t absorb flavors or odors, making it ideal for marinating for extended periods of time. Simply, place meat or vegetables in the rectangular dish to marinate in the refrigerator ahead of time, using the platter as a lid. When you’re ready to grill, bring both dishes out to the grill, and then after grilling, serve the food on the clean platter lid. No need to worry about raw food touching cooked food or having to dirty another dish for serving.

Baking and Roasting

All Le Creuset stoneware is oven-safe, which means that even the platter lid can go into the oven. This makes this dish set even more versatile and useful for baking. You can bake a casserole in the baking dish and use the platter as a lid while it bakes. Or you can use each piece separately to bake or roast two things at once. The stoneware has excellent heat distribution which means that food will be uniformly browned and evenly cooked. It will also keep food warm (or cold) at the table due to the superior heat retention properties.

Serving

For serving, the rectangular dish and platter lid combo can’t be beat.
